João Valsecchi do Amaral - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - Dr. Amaral is native of São Paulo and has an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and a doctorate in Ecology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has worked at the Mamirauá Institute since 2001, acting as the technological and scientific director from 2010-2018. He is the leader of the Research Group on the Ecology of Terrestrial Vertebrates and is the curator of the institution’s Biological Collections.
Joycimara Rocha de Sousa Ferreira - ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR - Joyce was born in Tefé and has an undergraduate degree in education. She was hired to work in the administrative division of the Mamirauá Institute in 2003 and worked as the coordinator of Purchasing and Finance until 2017 when she assumed position.
Dávila Suelen Souza Corrêa - MANAGMENT AND DEVELOPMENT DIRETOR - Dávila is from Pará state and has an undergraduate degree in social sciences and a master’s degree in sociology from the Federal University of Pará. She has worked at Mamirauá since 2005 as a researcher of rural sociology, socio-demographic studies, social technologies, peasantry and socio-environmental policies in the Amazonian floodplain. In 2011, she assumed the coordination of the Quality of Life Program, which implements social technologies and develops education and health initiatives in the Middle Solimões region.
Emiliano Esterci Ramalho - TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC DIRETOR - Emiliano is from Rio de Janeiro and has an undergraduate degree in Biology and a doctorate in Conservation Ecology from the University of Florida. He has been a researcher at the Mamirauá Institute since 2004, also working as a coordinator of research and monitoring activities. He is the leader of the Providence project and the Research Group in the Ecology and Conservation of Felines of Amazonia.
